![]() The later games began balancing weapons better and further separating them into roles, but the original had a very simple balance that made it easy to play but hard to master as your unit had multiple 'health pools' each representing one part of your Wanzer. It was fun, the story was pretty decent, and best of all, mecha on mecha fights with weapons and punching and explosions. Originally a turn based strategy game with mechs, it was popular because 1) Mecha is popular in Japan, and 2) You could individually swap the different parts and weapons of your Wanzers (meaning Walking Tank from the German inspiration of combining Walking and Panzer) and tweak their roles to your liking. ![]() However, this game appears to be based on an IP that Square has not done anything good with in a while. I can't tell if half the people on here are serious or making a joke about the Metal Gear Solid stuff.
